PLEASE CHECK MY NEW WEBSITE:
My last days in Berlin. Not lost, finally documented after 3 weeks of searching for my camera.
Last picture of Donna Huanca’s “accordian series”:
First try of my new (and first) leather satchel:
as a drawstring? NO!
Color story included flesh tone pink, slate gray with a caramel leather bottom and strap. Very Chloe 2008:
SOPHIE HAMACHER @ the General Public Gallery for a viewing of her short films. I was a “sound advisor for her piece “Fog”. I was so excited for her!
MEAT:
After finishing my first leather satchel, I became obsessed with purse patterns:
All I was thinking was “shape, leather, suede, form……”
Desert Suede Satchel #1 BY: Maria Chavez FOR: Alina Rojas
***Thanks to Alina Rojas and her roommate Emilio for putting up with me for a month in their amazing apartment. I gave Alina this satchel as a ThankYou for her patience with me.
Favortie Berlin outfit:
Margiela sweater, blue german work pants, sliced long underwear from the 20’s and platforms from a boring italian shoe maker…RIP..
Alina made food one day, looked good…
Donna and I on our way to a party from Gorlitzer Bahn:
AIDS #-D CLOSE UP of one of their sculptures. I tool video of the beginning of this process months ago, here is the final product. Brilliant.
Berlin studios have the best corners:
ABOVE—> STUDIOS!!
Later that week, awesome polenta display. VERY Crate n Barrel:
Random sand and wood placement:
Last morning. So happy to go home. I love New York City.
THANK GOD!!! BACK IN NYC! Just in time for PS1’s last summer party of the season:
Was a madhouse. So much fun.
A day after I found my camera I found a great example of unintentional placement. HOORAY!! I’m back BABY!!!
Now that my camera is back, I need to re assess what I will be posting in the coming days. Hang in there with me. And thanks for your curiosity. xoxoxo
m
Thanks to Gerd Bayer, Anthony Sandoval and Shani Van Breukelen for lending their talents and patience for the day.
Unintentional placement to the Max:
Had my first Wings of Desire moment while walking to the NK to pick up my equipment after my performance there the day before.
I saw a real life camel for the first time in my life.
Then I saw a goat, hiding in the tall grass.
Then a baby camel, wandering around.
In the trailer that the humans were hanging out, I saw a midget. (Not pictured)
After some flea market shopping sat down at my favorite quiet bar in Kreuzberg for some Rose.
Flea Market finds:
The kitchen window of the apartment that I am staying. I loved the 2 different color tones when dusk comes.
And how big and empty the courtyard walls are. I love the combination of the greenery, concrete walls and the open sky.
Outside of my window on a sunny/cloudy day.
DUSK DUSK DUSK

With rough edges.
Still deciding what to do with mine. Necklace? Neck Brace? Wall hanging? Beginnings of a shirt?
Donna made a vest. It is now my signature fall piece this coming season.
I CAN’T STOP THINKING ABOUT THIS LEATHER!!!!
It is the most beautiful, feminine shade of pink EVER! So elegant. I cannot stop dreaming about it.
Videos of my past performances here in Berlin coming soon.
Tomorrow there will be a screening for Sophie Hamacher at General Public, here in Berlin.
She will be screening 3 of her short films, one of which I was sound composition advisor for.

Solo and my face:
Intermission, outside:
My favorite memory from my tour with Seeded Plain in May. The beginning:
Upon exiting the Whitney on one of my short day’s there, I ran into this man who was recreating a call boy ad with Christian’s name in it, all out of black sand on the sidewalk. Christian had no idea. It was cool, but hm.
The kind of energy that is being created on the 4th floor of the museum is light, open with a subtle sense of peace and happiness. Observe:
I decided to hang around one day after my performance and watch Alan Licht, Ulrich Krieger and Lee Ranaldo interpret Screenplay. I learned a lot. Here’s my favorite part of the piece. I loved performing to it:
The hot summer in the city and almost over:
More on that later. Here are the rest of the pictures from my time at the Whitney Museum for Christian Marclay’s show on the 4th floor called FESTIVAL.
Getting ready with Elliot Sharp and Min Xiao-Fen.
Museum gaurd watching one of Christian’s graphic scores.
CHALKBOARD, 2010 on the 3rd day.
Min Xiao-Fen, one of the nicest ladies in the biz.
Elliot bad ass custom made guitar. It’s amazing.
I liked this kid. He was into it.
Before the performance:
Christian on the phone, next to my favorite window.
Nick Hallett and Brock, love these guys.
Added some more records to my sound source set up, for more variety.
Watching Screenplay, instead of performing it, with Ulrich Krieger, Alan Licht and Lee Ranaldo. Was interesting to watch it after performing it so many times.
The next few days, I was set up in the middle. Watched the monitor instead of the screen. Was interesting.
That weekend, at PS1 again, where my good friend Veronica Vasika was DJing. She did a great job.
Little girl was into it.
Within 10 minutes after closing time. Empty. Impressive.
I love my home. She’s so nice. Gives me so much.
My last performance was with Alex Waterman and Alan Licht. Was probably my most favorite performance of the 12 times. Also loved Alex’s hat. He has a new baby. Congrats ALEX!!
This reminded me of a Mitch Hedberg joke.
At the David LaChappelle opening @ the Paul Kasmin Gallery. He was signing posters. Was a pretty interesting show. I actually liked it.
Packed.
Naomi Campbell was one of his subjects.
The sketch for Naomi’s photo.
He wore all white with his white Gucci loafers. Was cute.
The model in this photo, Hana Soukupova, was there. She is a knock out. Why do I even try, knowing girls like her are walking around.
The devil in this photo reminded me of this weird ceramic thing that a friend had in their bag. Don’t go cross eyed!! 🙂
About our upcoming performance this Friday at Issue Project Room with an MP3 of our last performance @ White Box Gallery:

CHRISTIAN MARCLAY: FESTIVAL @ the WHITNEY MUSEUM
SOUNDCHECK, the day before Press day with Alan Licht:
A volunteer working on soundcheck. Christian was involved in every aspect of the show. Down to the boxes that the chalk was to be placed in for CHALKBOARD, 2010.
The crew
My soundcheck set up. TOTALLY different from my SCREENPLAY setup. I was figuring myself out. Cut me some “Marclay” slack..
Staff member watching SCREENPLAY
I love this window.
You see him? Do you? He’s at the top right corner. Awesome, right?
Off of the Queensb. Bridge. Press Day…
Christian, being specific behind a clean CHALKBOARD, 2010. Alan, getting ready.
My new SCREENPLAY set up. I wrote 6 pages of notes and redid my whole vinyl set up. It’s too complicated to write down. If you see me, get me a glass of wine and I’ll explain the whole thing to you.
Christian and the staff making final preparations.
Elliot Sharp, performing WIND UP GUITAR.
The first SCREENPLAY team: Ulrich Grieger, Alan Licht and Maria Chavez.
with composer, Christian Marclay. I wore tied up vintage palazzo pants from the 1970’s with a 1990’s Dana Buchman silk blazer and 2008, Pierre Hardy for the Gap, wooden sandals. For my fashions fans.
CHALKBOARD, 2010. Before the masses came…
Vito Acconci, 2nd floor. Go see it. Whitney Museum be on fire this season.
SCREENPLAY, evening Day 1
DAY 2 with Marina Rosenfeld and her student
LADY COVERS PIANO; from my notes in front of me. Marina thought I should name an album that. I told her I don’t make albums. Maybe she’ll name an album that, instead.
Got back home to Greenpoint to see my favorite puppy on the block, CUPCAKE!!
Was swept away by Shelley Burgon to go to the the new Brookyln Bridge Park to see Prince Rama perform for Issue Project Room and the Walt Whitman festival..
One day, I’m gonna live in the financial district. I love it there. Totally haunted with tiny alley ways. The oldest part of NYC. I feel so at home over there.
Fireworks started to go off behind the Statue of Liberty, far off in the distance. Felt contrived, but exciting.
MERCE (Shelley Burgon with Maria Chavez) walking to the light.
More of the rest of my time at the Whitney Museum, coming next week.
From Kill Devil Hill, this awesome portrait of George Washington. Give it to me.
Or this Native American tapestry:
Loved this old shot of a hummingbird from an old photo album.
